Scheme Details
Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, a basic savings & deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, pension in an affordable manner. Under the scheme, a basic savings bank deposit (BSBD) account can be opened in any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet, by persons not having any other account.
Benefits under PMJDY
- One basic savings bank account is opened for unbanked person.
- There is no requirement to maintain any minimum balance in PMJDY accounts.
- Interest is earned on the deposit in PMJDY accounts.
- Rupay Debit card is provided to PMJDY account holder.
- Accident Insurance Cover of Rs.1 lakh (enhanced to Rs. 2 lakh to new PMJDY accounts opened after 28.8.2018) is available with RuPay card issued to the PMJDY account holders.
- Life Insurance Cover of Rs. 30,000 to eligible PMJDY account holders who opened their account for the first time between 15.8.2014 to 31.1.2015 is available.
- An overdraft (OD) facility up to Rs. 10,000 to eligible account holders is available.
- PMJDY accounts are eligible for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Bank (MUDRA) scheme.
What documents are required to open an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana?
(i) If Aadhaar Card/Aadhaar Number is available then no other documents is required. If address has changed, then a self certification of current address is sufficient.
(ii) If Aadhaar Card is not available, then any one of the following Officially Valid Documents (OVD) is required: Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport & NREGA Card. If these documents also contain your address, it can serve both as Proof of Identity and Address.
(iii) If a person does not have any of the officially valid documents mentioned above, but it is categorized as low risk by the banks, then he/she can open a bank account by submitting any one of thefollowing documents:
a) Identity Card with applicant’s photograph issued by Central/State Government Departments, Statutory/Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks and Public Financial Institutions;
b) Letter issued by a gazette officer, with a duly attested photograph of the person.
ప్రధాన్ మంత్రి జన ధన్ ఖాతాలో ఇలాంటి అనేక సౌకర్యాలు అందుబాటులో ఉన్నాయి, దీని కోసం సాధారణ పొదుపు ఖాతాలో చెల్లించాలి.
1. జన ధన్ ఖాతాలో జమ చేసిన మొత్తానికి వడ్డీ వస్తుంది.
2. ఖాతాదారునికి ఉచిత మొబైల్ బ్యాంకింగ్ సౌకర్యం లభిస్తుంది.
3. జన ధన్ ఖాతాదారుడు మీ ఖాతా నుండి 10 వేల రూపాయలను ఓవర్డ్రాఫ్ట్ చేయవచ్చు. అంటే, ఖాతాలో డబ్బు లేకపోయినా 10 వేల రూపాయలు ఉపసంహరించుకోవచ్చు. అయితే, ఖాతా తెరిచిన కొన్ని నెలల తర్వాత ఈ సౌకర్యం లభిస్తుంది.
4. ఈ ఖాతాతో, రెండు లక్షల రూపాయల ప్రమాద బీమా ఉంది.
5. 30 వేల బీమా కూడా ఉంది. ఖాతాదారుడి మరణం తరువాత, నామినీ పేరు గల వ్యక్తి దాన్ని పొందుతాడు.
6. ఖాతాదారుడు ఈ ఖాతా ద్వారా భీమా మరియు పెన్షన్ పథకాన్ని సులభంగా పొందే వీలుంది.
7. ఈ ఖాతాలో కనీస బ్యాలెన్స్ అవసరం లేదు. మీరు చెక్ బుక్ సౌకర్యాన్ని తీసుకుంటుంటే, మీరు కనీస బ్యాలెన్స్ కలిగి ఉండాలి.
పిఎమ్జెడివై కింద తెరిచిన ఖాతాల్లో కనీస బ్యాలెన్స్ నిర్వహించాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు. అయితే, మీకు చెక్బుక్ సౌకర్యం కావాలంటే మీరు కనీస బ్యాలెన్స్ను కలిగి ఉండాలి.
